Under-21 Women Fall to Mexico's Full Women's National Team, 1-0  

CHIHUAHUA, Mexico (Friday, February 1, 2002) - The United States Under-21 Women's National Team opened a two-game tour in Mexico last night with a 0-1 loss to the Mexican Women's National Team in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Mexico scored in th 86th minute to hand the USA a defeat in their first international match of 2002.  U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo suffered an injury on Mexico's goal, when her arm was sliced open by a hook on the goal.  An initital scare to all in attendance, Solo checked out okay, but needed 15 stitches for the injury.  The teams will now travel to Juarez, Mexico, where they will face off once more on Saturday, February 2.
