TOYOTA, Japan (Aug. 12, 2007) - The U.S. Under-17 '91 Men's National Team fell, 6-5, in penalty kicks to the Grampus youth team in the third place match of the Toyota International Youth Football Championship in Toyota, Japan. With the loss, the U.S. finished in fourth place.

The U.S. came back from a goal down twice in regulation to force the match to be decided in penalty kicks. In the penalty shootout, all five shooters for the U.S. and Grampus made their attempts to force the match to another round. Nick Millington was the sixth shooter for the U.S., and the midfielder's attempted was saved. Motoki Hirano buried his shot from the spot to give Grampus the victory.

Grampus took the early lead in the 21st minute when Genki Obata finished off a pass from Toshiki Miura. Miura got free down the left side and crossed the ball into the penalty area where Obata buried his shot off the right post.

The U.S. responded in the second half when Scott Caldwell scored off a corner kick. Jose Altamirano's corner went over everyone, but Dersu Abolfathi tracked it down and served it back into the area where Caldwell chested it down and ripped a volley into the upper left corner.

Grampus came back in the 68th minute, scoring off a free kick from the top of the 18-yard box. Miura bent his shot around the wall and into the side netting.

Ten minutes later, Abolfathi pulled the U.S. even once again when he volleyed Chad Barson's throw-in, finding the back of the net from 18 yards out.
