The U.S. Under-21 Women’s National Team finished up a quick training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. on March 23, with a 1-0 victory over the Ajax women’s club of Los Angeles.
Forward Katie Griffin from the University of Colorado scored the lone goal on a penalty kick in the first half after she earned it herself when she was cut down in the right side of the penalty area.
The U-21s also played two matches against the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team on March 21, winning one and losing the other.
The U-21s fell to the U-20s in the first game, 3-1, as former Princeton star Esmeralda Negron scored the lone goal. The U-21s rebounded with a 5-1 win in the second match as former Arizona State star Manya Makoski and UCLA’s Bristyn Davis each scored twice while UVA’s Noelle Keselica added a single goal.
The U.S. U-21s will get together again for a trip to Holland in May as head coach Jill Ellis continues the process of selecting a team to participate in the annual Nordic Cup, being held this summer in Norway. The USA has won an unprecedented seven straight Nordic Cups against the top U-21 teams from Europe.
