CHICAGO (September 1, 2006) - U.S. Soccer Referee Jennifer Bennett was appointed by FIFA to officiate the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship final between China and North Korea on Sunday, Sept. 3, at Lokomotiv Stadium in Moscow, Russia.

Bennett was selected as one of 15 referees at the world championship, and was the woman in the middle for the critical quarterfinal clash between France and North Korea, which saw North Korea advance to semifinals with a stoppage time goal.

She kicked off the tournament as the forth official in the Group C showdown between North Korea and Germany, which saw the defending champions Germany fall, 2-0, to the North Koreans. Bennett also officiated the Australia-Brazil match in Group A on Aug. 20 and the Finland vs. Nigeria clash that would determine Nigeria's passage the next round. Nigeria won handily, 8-0.

Bennett has been a member of the FIFA International Panel of Referees since 2002 and has previously served as a fourth official during the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup in the United States.
