CHICAGO (Oct. 30, 2007) – In last weekend’s Development Academy action, Miami FC Kendall U-15/16s kept their undefeated record intact, downing Schulz Academy, 4-2, at home. Shane Malcolm scored the first of his two goals in the 32nd minute, but Hasani Sinclair evened the score a few minutes after halftime.

Kendall regained the lead in the 56th minute on Malcolm’s second goal, but just two minutes later Gabriel Roledo evened the score again for Schulz. In the 63rd minute, Kendall took the lead for good with a goal from Christian Ramos and added a goal by Jordan Fernandez for the final score of 4-2.

U-15/16
In other U-15/16 action, Birmingham United overcame an 11th minute goal by the AFC Lightning to become one of five teams to earn come-from-behind wins on the weekend. After heading into halftime down a goal, Birmingham’s Kerry Bowden evened the score just three minutes into the second half. Six minutes later, Cory Gonzalez gave Birmingham a 2-1 lead that they would never relinquish.

Crossfire Premier was one of few teams this week to hold onto a first-half lead, eventually topping the DeAnza Force 3-1. Cody Snyder scored the first of his two goals in the 28th minute, giving Crossfire a halftime advantage. Cameron Tooyerserkani evened the score in the 50th minute, but 10 minutes later, Ben Fisk would regain the lead for Crossfire, and Snyder’s second goal put the game out of reach just three minutes later.

The Atlanta Fire rallied to a draw with the Clearwater Chargers, scoring the game-tying goal in the waning seconds. A goal from Sean Venker allowed Clearwater to take an early lead in the seventh minute, but Brian Intariano scored in the 32nd minute and Sawyer Hemmer pulled Atlanta ahead just before halftime. Clearwater battled back, and scored in the 54th and 68th minutes with goals from Thomas Roehn and Nicolas Jones, respectively. In the final minute, Atlanta’s Eric Carrion tallied his second goal of the year to make the final score 3-3.

Eighty minutes wasn’t enough to decide a winner between the Virginia Rush and visiting Bridge FA. Clayton Newton’s 11th minute goal, his second goal of the season held up until halftime. In the 45th minute, Justin Watson leveled the score for Bridge, but the Rush’s Frank Saunders answered back just three minutes later. With just seven minutes remaining in the game, Austin Savage scored his Academy-leading eighth goal of the season and salvage the draw for Bridge.

In each team’s second game of the weekend, the Atlanta Fire hosted neighboring AFC Lightning and came away with the weekend’s only shutout. A goal from the Fire’s Taylor Krek in the 20th minute made the score 1-0, and Lucas Ade added an insurance goal in the 78th minute for the final score of 2-0.

A late two-goal rally turned the game in favor of the Clearwater Chargers, as they came away with a 2-1 win over Birmingham United. Birmingham’s Daniel Wolfe scored in the 47th minute, and the one-goal lead stood until the 76th minute when Clearwater’s Charles Lynch made it a tie game. With two minutes remaining, Thomas Roehn scored the game winner for Clearwater to improve their record to 1-0-1 on the weekend.

U-17/18
The AFC Lightning (Atlanta, Ga.) traveled to Alabama to face Birmingham United on Saturday afternoon. Birmingham took the lead late in the first half when John White found the back of the net. Just five minutes into the second half, Sean Grisham evened the score for the Lightning. In the 52nd minute, Ryan Pugh scored what would be the game-winner, and two minutes later Cameron Black tallied an insurance goal for the Lightning to make the final score 3-1.

Two goals from Preston Myers, including one in the final minute, led Bridge FA (Charleston, S.C.) to a 2-1 victory over the Virginia Rush (Virginia Beach, Va.). The Rush took an early lead with a 19th minute goal from Earl Floyd, Jr., but Myers first goal in the 25th minute leveled the game heading into halftime. In the 89th minute, Myers struck again to give the visiting team the win.

In another come-from-behind win, the Atlanta Fire topped the Clearwater (Fla.) Chargers, 2-1. Julio Perez scored the lone goal for Clearwater in the 15th minute, but 10 minutes later, Taylor Jordan evened the score. In the 57th minute, Brett Blazer tallied the game-winning goal to give the Fire the win.

With a short trip down I-95, Schulz Academy (Boca Raton, Fla.) visited Miami FC Kendall Sunday afternoon in Southeast Conference action. Pablo Punyed scored his third goal of the season in the 31st minute to give Kendall the advantage. In the 81st minute, Schulz battled back to earn the 1-1 draw when Karol Chorak scored the equalizer.

In the highest scoring affair of the weekend, Clearwater turned a 3-4 halftime deficit into a 6-4 win over Birmingham United. Cesar Avalos’s hat trick, including a goal in the opening minute, was not enough for Birmingham, as Clearwater answered back with a hat trick from Matthew Tobin and two goals from Julio Perez to lift them to victory.

The Atlanta Fire used two 90th minute goals to eek out a draw with cross-town rivals AFC Lightning. The Lightning looked to be in control when Taylor Hughston broke the scoreless tie in the 63rd minute, and Cameron Black put them up by two with just 10 minutes remaining. In the final minute of play, Alassane Kane pulled the Fire back within one, and seconds later the Fire benefited from an own goal to come away with the 2-2 draw.

A late goal from each team led the DeAnza Force (Cupertino, Calif.) and Crossfire Premier (Redmond, Wash.) to a 1-1 draw. After 84 minutes of scoreless play, Crossfire's Max Macaluao finally broke through the DeAnza defense to take the lead, but four minutes later, Niki Chow found the back of the net for DeAnza to come away with the tie at home.
