Coaching Symposium to Be Held With U-19 WNT Event in Carson, Calif. on April 9-10

CHICAGO (Wednesday, March 31, 2004) - The U.S. Soccer Coaching Education Department will be hosting a Coaching Symposium at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., on April 9-10 in conjunction with the 2004 Philips Lighting U-19 Women’s Soccer Invitational.

The highlights of the Symposium will be a match analysis of the U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team vs. China on April 10, and observation of a U.S. Women’s National Team training session that will be directed by Head Coach April Heinrichs.

In addition to current trends in the women’s game and overall player development, preparation for major tournaments will also be discussed. Both U.S. teams at The Home Depot Center are amidst preparations for major international competition as the Women’s National Team opens the Olympics this August and the U-19 Women’s National Team begins CONCACAF qualifying for the FIFA World Championships in May.

The Symposium will be directed by U.S. Soccer Women's National Staff Coach Greg Ryan, and a U.S. Women’s National Team coach will also be participating at some of the sessions. Coaches who hold an “A” license can earn two Continuing Education Units for attendance at the symposium. The cost is $40 for U.S. Soccer Coaches Organization Members and $50 for non-members.
