Coaching Symposium Set for April 23 in Birmingham, Ala.  

CHICAGO (Friday, April 9, 2004) – The U.S. Soccer Coaching Education Department will be conducting a Coaching Symposium in Birmingham, Ala. on Friday, April 23 – one day prior to the U.S. Women’s National Team game versus Brazil on April 24.

Registration form

Both the U.S. and Brazil will be participating in the 2004 Olympics in Greece. The symposium will focus on the U.S. WNT preparation for the 2004 Olympics, current trends in the women’s game and player development. Directed by U.S. Women’s National Staff Coach Dave Simeone, the symposium schedule will also include attending a U.S. Women’s training session.

The Coaching Symposium is offered for the broad base of youth, high school and college soccer coaches. Coaches who hold an “A” license will earn two Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s) toward keeping their license current. The cost of registration includes a ticket to the game on April 24 at Legion Field.

Birmingham Coaching Symposium Tentative Schedule – April 23, 2004
9:30 - 10:30 a.m.  Registration/Check-in at Legion Field
11 a.m. - noon   U.S. Women Train at Legion Field
noon - 2 p.m.   Lunch
2 p.m. - 4 p.m.   Classroom Presentation – Sports Blast Indoor Facility
4 p.m.    Break
4:45 p.m. - 6 p.m.  Field Session – Sports First Soccer Complex
6 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.  Field Session – Sports First Soccer Complex

Fee Schedule
U.S. Coaches Organization Members (Pre-registration until April 19)  $65
U.S. Coaches Organization Members (Walk Up - April 23)    $70
Non-Members (Pre-registration until April 19)     $75
Non-Members (Walk Up - April 23)       $80

The registration form should be completed and returned via e-mail to coaches@ussoccer.org or faxed to the Coaching Education Department at 312-808-9708. Upon receiving a completed pre-registration via e-mail or fax you will receive confirmation. Payment can be completed by credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express), or checks should be made out to U.S. Soccer and sent to U.S. Soccer Coaching Department, 1801 South Prairie Ave., Chicago, IL 60616.
