U.S. Under-20 MNT Evens Record at Campos Verde International With 3-0 Win Over Northern Ireland

CHICAGO (April 7, 2008) -- The U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team will travel to Beja, Portugal for the Campos Verdes International Tournament from April 13-19, where they will play three international games in a round-robin tournament.

The U.S. will train for two days in Beja, leading up to its game against the Cape Verde Islands on April 15, Northern Ireland on April 16 and Portugal on April 18.

The roster includes five players who play professionally in Europe, with Germany’s Hertha Berlin sending three players in Bryan Arguez, Ellis McLoughlin and Alfredo Morales. New Jersey native Vincenzo Bernardo plies his trade for SSC Napoli (Italy).  Jared Jeffrey, who recently signed with Club Brugge in Belgium, rounds out the professional European contingent, while Norwegian-based midfielder Mikkel Diskerud plays in the Stabak youth system.

Four players come from U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams from across the country. Defenders Gale Agbossoumonde and Tommy Meyer play for IMG Academy and Scott Gallagher, respectively. Goalkeeper Bill Hamid has joined DC United’s Academy campaign and midfielder Andrew Wegner comes from the PA Classics. Additionally, goalkeeper Zac MacMath is currently part of the Under-17 Men’s National Team Residency program, which is also part of the Academy, and will graduate in May.

Residency products Brendan King, Peri Marosevic and Daniel Wenzel join the U-20s from the college ranks, along with the University of San Francisco’s Victor Cortez.
