U.S. Futsal National Team Set to Travel to Brazil
  • Team to play friendlies against Brazilian club sides
  • Will meet up in Miami for training camp prior to leaving for Brazil

  • The U.S. Fustal National Team is preparing to travel to Brazil in May as the team begins preparations for the CONCACAF Futsal Championship.

The Futsal team, led by head coach Keith Tozer, will embark on a 10-day trip to South America where the squad will train and play multiple matches against Brazilian club teams. Prior to leaving the country, the team will meet up in Miami to conduct a three-day training camp.

Tozer named a squad of 14 players for the trip, 11 of whom compete in the MISL in the United States. The team includes midfielder Denison Cabral whose recent hat trick in the MISL Final helped the Baltimore Blast to a 14-11 championship victory over La Raza de Monterrey in Milwaukee, Wis.

The trip to Brazil will serve as an important tune up for the team as it looks towards the CONCACAF Futsal Championship which kicks off June 3 in Guatemala. The U.S. has been drawn into Group B with Haiti, Panama and Costa Rica. The top three teams in the regional tournament qualify for the FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held in Brazil from Sept. 30 to October 19.
