Development Academy
DA Finals Week: Who Clinched a Spot

After the inaugural season of the Development Academy, here are the teams that won their Conference and advanced to Finals Week, which will be held from July 12-19 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Clinching a spot in the Finals was a nail-biting affair as most of the Conference winners weren't decided until the final weekend of games at the Summer Showcase from June 27-30 in Greensboro, N.C.

Below is how every team clinched their spot.

Under-18 Division

ATLANTIC CONFERENCE:

CASL - CASL had clinched the Atlantic Conference before the Showcase, with an insurmountable 14-point lead of their closest rivals South Charlotte SA.

GREAT LAKES CONFERENCE:

Columbus Crew - With their victory in their final match of the season, the Crew moved on to Finals Week even before the Wolves played their match. The Wolves also have a game they need to make up, but even if they were to win both the Showcase and make-up game to tie the Crew on points, the tie-breakers go to the Crew. The two teams are actually tied on the first tie-breaker (head-to-head), but the Crew takes the second tie-breaker (Conference points) by the narrowest of margins - 30 to 29.

MID-ATLANTIC CONFERENCE:

Baltimore Bays - The Baltimore Bays had sewn up the Mid-Atlantic Conference with a 17-point lead heading into the final weekend.

MID-AMERICA CONFERENCE:

Chicago Fire - By virtue of their win over Scott Gallagher Thursday, July 3, the Chicago Fire have overtaken the Sockers, finishing with 52 points to claim the Mid-America conference berth at the Development Academy Finals Week. Following Summer Showcase action, no team had locked things up, as the Sockers, Fire and Magic were within three points of each other, with some teams having games in hand.

NORTHEAST CONFERENCE:

FC Westchester - At the start of Friday, B/W Gottschee still has a mathematical chance of catching FC Westchester...that was until they fell in their first match of the Showcase. FC Westchester clinched their spot without even taking the field on Friday.

SO CAL CONFERENCE:

LAFC
- With a 2-1 victory in their opening match of the Summer Showcase on Friday against Seacoast United, LAFC clinched their spot at Finals Week.

SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE:

Concorde Fire - With a 2-0 victory against Potomac on Saturday, the Concorde Fire clinched their spot in Finals Week.

WEST CONFERENCE:

Colorado Rush - The Colorado Rush didn't have to even play their game on Monday before clinching as Real Colorado lost their early match, eliminating any chance to catch up.

Under-16 Division

ATLANTIC CONFERENCE:

CASL
- CASL won their final match, 3-0, to earn a spot in the Finals.

GREAT LAKES CONFERENCE:

Carmel United - With a 1-0 victory against Albertson, Carmel United Soccer Club clinched a spot at Finals Week.

MID-AMERICA CONFERENCE:

Chicago Magic - The Magic clinched with a 2-2 draw in their final match. They finished tied on 58 points with the Sockers, but by virtue of a win and a draw in the team's head-to-head meetings this season (the first tie-breaker), the Magic advances to the Finals.

MID-ATLANTIC CONFERENCE:

PDA - With a victory in their final game on Monday, PDA clinched their spot in Finals Week.

NORTHEAST CONFERENCE:

Albertson Soccer Club - Albertson won their match on Saturday, putting them six points clear - good enough to clinch with one game left to play.

SO CAL CONFERENCE:

LAFC - LAFC cruised in their final match on Monday and booked their spot at Finals Week.

SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE:

Schulz Academy - Schulz clinched when they defeated the PA Classics on Saturday afternoon.

WEST CONFERENCE:

Real Colorado - With Real Colorado's 3-1 victory against Schulz Academy they clinched the Conference.
