• The starting lineup to face Germany is identical to the XI that opened the Olympics against Zambia.
• Lindsey Horan will earn her 152nd cap as she captains the U.S. for the 30th time in her career. Horan leads the U.S. with 1,002 minutes played this year and will be making her team-leading 13th start of 2024. With her two assists against Zambia, Horan became fifth player in USWNT history with multiple assists in an Olympic match and now has three assists in her last two Olympic appearances dating back to the bronze medal match in Tokyo.
• Alyssa Naeher will make her 108th international appearance as she makes her 11th start of 2024. Naeher has kept a clean sheet in each of her last three outings for the USWNT at the World Cup and Olympics, dating back to the third group stage match of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, and has nine shutouts in 17 total matches at world championships.
• Although she did not see action in that match, Naeher, who spent two seasons playing in Germany for Turbine Potsdam, is the only player on this current squad who was on the roster for the 2015 World Cup semifinal against Germany, which marked the last meeting between the teams at a World Cup or Olympics.
• Emily Fox will make her 11th start of 2024 as she earns her 53rd cap for the USWNT. Fox was one of seven players to make their Olympic debut against Zambia and has been a mainstay on the American backline, ranking second on the team in total minutes played following the conclusion of the Tokyo Olympics, trailing only Horan.
• Naomi Girma is set to earn her 36th cap as she makes her 10th appearance – and 10th start – of 2024. Dating back to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Girma has now played every minute of the last five matches for the USWNT at the World Cup and Olympics - the only field player to do so - and has gone the distance in 27 of her 35 career matches for the USWNT.
• After scoring the opening goal for the USWNT at these 2024 Olympics, Trinity Rodman will make her fourth consecutive start and 32nd consecutive appearance overall for the USWNT. Rodman became the seventh player in USWNT history to score on her Olympics debut and the first to do so since Alex Morgan in 2012. The 22-year-old also became the youngest player to score for the USWNT at a world championship since a 21-year-old Mallory Swanson scored against Thailand in the USA’s opening win at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
• Crystal Dunn will earn her 151st cap as she makes her 17th consecutive start for the USWNT in World Cup or Olympic match, a streak that began with the USA’s third group stage match against Sweden at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Dunn’s streak of 17 consecutive starts at world championship events is the longest by any USWNT field player since Christie Pearce made 27 consecutive starts spanning from the 2004 Olympic quarterfinal through the 2012 gold medal match.
• Mallory Swanson, who enters the second Olympic matchday tied atop the tournament scoring charts with France’s Marie-Antoinette Katoto, will make her 96th international appearance and her fourth career start at the Olympics. Swanson’s two goals in 70 seconds were the fastest two goals ever scored by a USWNT player at a world championship and the fastest between goals in the history of the Olympic Women’s Soccer Tournament.
• Swanson now has six goal involvements (4 goals, 2 assists) in seven matches for the USWNT since returning from injury and her 36 international goals are tied with Tobin Heath for 16th all-time in USWNT history.
• Sophia Smith, who scored the equalizing goal in the USA’s most recent matchup against Germany on Nov. 13, 2022, will make her 52nd international appearance and her sixth consecutive start for the USWNT at the World Cup or Olympics. Smith assisted Swanson’s second goal of the game on Thursday against Zambia, which marked her fourth goal contribution in five career matches at world championship events (2 goals, 2 assists). Smith leads the U.S. with eight total goal involvements (5 goals, 3 assists) in 2024.
• Tierna Davidson will earn her 62nd cap as she makes her 11th appearance – and 11th start – of 2024. Davidson, who was the youngest member of the 2019 World Cup champions and the youngest on the USA’s 18-player roster for Tokyo 2020, played all but 30 minutes in each of her 10 appearances for the USA so far this year. Davidson spent time training in Germany with VfL Wolfsburg in early 2023 as she returned to form and fitness after tearing her ACL in March of 2022.
• The fourth-most experienced player on this Olympic roster, Rose Lavelle will make her 103rd international appearance as she makes her eighth appearance all-time at the Olympic Games. Lavelle appeared in all six of the USA’s matches at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics and scored her first Olympic goal in the USA’s group stage win over New Zealand.
• One of five players to appear in every match for the USWNT so far this year, Sam Coffey will earn her 21st cap as she makes her 12th start of 2024. The only player in this starting lineup who entered the Olympics without any prior world championship experience, Coffey is third on the team in total minutes played this year (933 minutes), triple her total minutes of action from her first two years with the USWNT combined (301 minutes from 2022-23).
• Forward Jaedyn Shaw (leg injury) remains unavailable for selection and is once again replaced on the matchday squad by alternate Croix Bethune.
