Weah Becomes First Player Born in 2000 to Earn MNT Cap

Midfielder Tim Weah entered the U.S. Men’s National Team’s international friendly against Paraguay on March 27, 2018 as a substitute. With his appearance, the 18-year-old attacker became the first player born in the year 2000 to earn a cap with the U.S. Men’s National Team.

Midfielder Tim Weah entered the U.S. Men’s National Team’s international friendly against Paraguay on March 27, 2018 as a substitute in the 87th minute. With his appearance, the 18-year-old attacker became the first player born in the year 2000 to earn a cap with the U.S. Men’s National Team.

 

Following Weah’s historic debut in 2018, the next birth year has also pushed its first debutant into the USMNT. Forward Uly Llanez – who was born April 2, 2001 -- started and scored in his first cap, a 1-0 friendly win against Costa Rica on Feb. 1, 2020 in Carson, Calif.
