Two goals in six minutes early in the first half gave the USA a lead it would carry until the final whistle. In the 10th minute, Evan Rotundo took a free kick from the left side that fell at the feet of Jauregui, whose shot hit the post. The rebound bounced to Valdez, who finished from close range with a sliding shot to the right side past Guatemala goalkeeper Javier Mejicano for his first international goal.

The U.S. doubled its lead in the 16th as Antonio Leone, fresh off of winning the Golden Ball at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-15 Playoffs, served a ball upfield to Jauregui near the sideline. He laid it off for Cisneros who ripped a shot from the top of the box to the far corner for his second U-15 goal of the year.

An individual effort earned Jauregui a goal of his own after the break. Attempting to put a service into the box, a Guatemala defender deflected the attempt, but the Sacramento Republic FC forward collected the loose ball and dribbled along the endline before hitting a low, hard shot inside the near post for the game’s final goal.

The 18-player U.S. roster for the tournament is made up of 17 players born in 2004 and one born in 2005. Sixteen players have spent at least one season in the Development Academy.

Forty-two teams across three divisions are competing at the Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship. Division 1’s 16-team field is composed of 14 top-ranked Concacaf nations as well as Portugal and Slovenia, participating as invited guest teams from UEFA. The winner of Division 1’s knockout round bracket will be crowned Concacaf champion.
