Ecosystem Goals
Shared Ecosystem Goals
Soccer in America is entering a transformative era, with opportunities to expand the game’s reach, success and impact.
Last year, U.S. Soccer launched the strategic vision, and we are now defining a strategic framework with clear ambitions, goals, and strategies. Those ecosystem-wide, long-term aspirations are focused on the following:
- Soccer Everywhere: Ensuring everyone, everywhere, experiences the joy of soccer
- Soccer Success: Our National Teams and pro leagues are winning on the world stage
- Soccer Investment: Maximize and diversify investments to sustainably grow the game at all levels

Now, we are looking to create a shared set of ecosystem goals tied to these three ambitions. Co-creating a shared agenda with common goals will allow us to work together and act as a force multiplier at every level of the game. Examples may include:
- Soccer Everywhere: % of Americans that report they play soccer, % of American schools that offer soccer programs
- Soccer Success: # of minutes in Division 1 league by USMNT / USWNT, Win % or podium finishes by national team, success measures for pro teams in regional competitions
- Soccer Investment: total attendance at U.S. Soccer sanctioned professional leagues, $ per year in media / sponsorship rights in soccer, $ per year in government funding to support soccer
We are engaging the membership community on these goals by first aligning on objectives, and then on the explicit measures and baseline metrics. These shared goals are a natural outgrowth of ecosystem review process, so we will work with appropriate councils to ensure an update is published quarterly.
