Domestic players will look to impress with just two weekends before the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup roster is named
The 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup is just around the corner, and U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Bruce Arena will be watching the next two weeks of matches in order to narrow down his roster ahead of camp commencing on June 25 in Nashville.
Here’s a few things to look out for this weekend with U.S. MNT players in Major League Soccer:
Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris return to Seattle Sounders FC where they’ll try to keep the club above the Western Conference’s red line in Saturday’s visit to New York City FC (1 p.m. ET – ESPN).
Fresh off his highlight-reel strike at Azteca, Michael Bradley returns to the Toronto FC lineup along with Jozy Altidore as the Reds visit D.C. United with hopes ofrestarting the unbeaten streak that was lost while the pair was away on international duty (8 p.m. ET – MLS Live).
On Saturday night, Gyasi Zardes and LA Galaxy look to extend their seven-game unbeaten run when they welcome DaMarcus Beasley and Houston Dynamo to StubHub Center (11 p.m. ET – UniMas; Univision Deportes Facebook).
Then cap the weekend Sunday when Alejandro Bedoya and Gold Cup hopefuls Chris Pontius and C.J. Sapong take on New York Red Bulls in a preview of the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 clash to be played on June 28 (5 p.m. ET – ESPN).
