It turned out to be a weekend of firsts for several U.S. players in Europe.

Midfielders Weston McKennie and Richard Ledezma didn't waste much time in securing their first assists for their respective clubs.

Only 14 minutes into Juventus' 4-1 win against Spezia, the 22-year-old McKennie ran onto Rodrigo Betancur’s feed from outside the penalty area before finding himself in a 2 v 1 situation with Alvaro Morata against the goalkeeper. Recognizing his teammate had a better chance to score, the USMNT midfielder shuffled off a pass to Morata, who easily scored from five yards on the left side.

McKennie was replaced in the 62nd minute by Welsh international Aaron Ramsey, his potential opponent when the MNT takes on Wales on Nov. 12 in Swansea.

Ledezma, who has represented the U-23 USMNT this cycle, didn't waste much time making an impact in his debut for PSV Eindhoven on Sunday. Only 10 minutes after coming on, he chased down a shot off the post and laid off a pass for Ryan Thomas' swerving strike in the 84th minute of his side's 4-0 home win against Ado Den Haag. Ledezma, who completed all 16 of his passes, replaced Mauro Junior in the 74th minute for third-place PSV in the Dutch Eredivisie.

On Saturday, Josh Sargent connected for his first goal of the season for Werder Bremen in its 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Sargent gave Bremen the lead in the 51st minute, tallying the seventh goal of his Bundesliga career. Doing well to stay onside, the O’Fallon, Mo. product latched onto a pass on the left flank and raced in in 1 v 1 on goalkeeper Kevin Trapp before neatly finishing with a right-footed effort inside the near post.

In Major League Soccer:

Center back Aaron Long struck for an 11th-hour goal for the New York Red Bulls in the 89th minute to lift them to a 1-0 home win against the New England Revolution last Wednesday. Long, the 2018 MLS Defender of the Year, scored his eighth-career Red Bulls goal, the most by a defender in club history.

Jordan Morris recorded his ninth goal of the season in Seattle Sounders FC's 3-1 defeat at the Colorado Rapids on Sunday. In the 22nd minute, Sounders and USMNT teammate Cristian Roldan crossed from the right for Morris, who redirected the ball past Rapids ‘keeper William Yarbrough from the top of the six-yard box. Morris is one goal away from equaling his personal season best of 10 that he set in 2019.

  • In MLS, Ayo Akinola scored the equalizing goal in Toronto FC's 2-1 win against Inter Miami CF on Sunday. His 55th-minute tally was his third in his last five matches and ninth of the campaign.
