Goalkeeper Drake Callender to Replace Jonathan Klinsmann in U-23 USMNT Training Camp Ahead of Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship
Klinsmann suffered the injury during team practice and was immediately entered into the concussion protocol.
CHICAGO (March 8, 2021)—Inter Miami CF goalkeeper Drake Callender has been added to the U-23 USMNT training camp roster in Guadalajara, Mexico ahead of this month’s Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship. He replaces Jonathan Klinsmann, who has been diagnosed with a concussion.
Callender was named to the USA’s provisional roster for Olympic qualifying earlier this month. The 6-3 goalkeeper played four years at the University of California, Berkeley from 2016-19, earning All-Pac 12 honors during his final three seasons with the Golden Bears. A product of the San Jose Earthquakes academy, Callender joined Inter Miami CF in Nov. 2019.
