San Diego Wave FC continued its strong start to its first ever season in NWSL, beating the visiting Chicago Red Stars, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon to make it three wins in three games. After a scoreless first half, Alex Morgan put San Diego in front in the 56th minute, converting from the penalty spot for her league-leading fifth goal of the young season. The Wave scored again in the 89th minute, which provided the insurance needed to negate a goal in the stoppage time by the visitors from Chicago.

Fellow expansion side Angel City FC also continued its strong start to the regular season, beating reigning champions Washington Spirit, 1-0, at Audi Field on Sunday afternoon for their second win in three games. Christen Press scored the game’s lone goal in the 42nd minute, netting her first goal of the regular season as she cut in from the left wing and tucked her right-footed shot inside the right post.

Portland Thorns FC continued their unbeaten start to the 2022 campaign, playing their Cascadia rivals OL Reign to a 0-0 draw on Friday night at Providence Park.

Racing Louisville FC and the Houston Dash played to a 1-1 draw Saturday at Lynn Family Stadium while the Orlando Pride and Kansas City Current split the points following a 2-2 result in Florida.

Three midweek matches highlight the upcoming NWSL schedule, followed by a full slate of weekend games, including the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final on Saturday, May 21 in Turin, Italy. Reigning champions Barcelona will square off an Olympique Lyon side featuring U.S. Women’s National Team midfielders Lindsey Horan and Catarina Macario. This will be the first Champions League Final for both Horan and Macario as they look to help Lyon lift its eighth Champions League trophy overall.
