It's not always money in the bank when Jesús Ferreira scores for FC Dallas this season, but it's pretty close to it.
The U.S. Men's National Team forward found the net for the 12th time in MLS action this season in FC Dallas' 1-0 victory against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, July 23.
FC Dallas improved to 5-1-2 this season when Ferreira connects for a goal and to 17-3-5 during his career.
Ferreira gave the visitors all the scoring they needed in the 14th minute. USA teammate Paul Arriola centered the ball for Ferreira who let it ride to Paxton Pomykal, who then slipped Ferreira into the box where he finished from 10 yards past goalkeeper Zac MacMath.
Ferreira trails Valentin Castellanos (New York City FC) and Sebastian Driussi (Austin FC), who lead the league with 13 goals apiece.
The 21-year-old Ferreira also reached several other milestones.
He became the second MLS player 21 and under to accumulate 30 or more goals and 20 assists in his career. He joined current Austin FC midfielder Diego Fagúndez, who recorded 34 goals and 24 assists for the New England Revolution, in that exclusive club.
Ferreira, who tied with Ariel Graziani for eighth place on the team's career scoring list (30), also entered a select group of FC Dallas players who had accumulated more than 30 goals and 20 assists in their careers. That club includes Jason Kreis (91g, 65a), Fabian Castillo (34g, 30a) and Michael Barrios (31g, 44a).
THE EQUALIZER
Jordan Morris struck for the tying goal just before halftime in the Seattle Sounders' 2-1 home win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, July 23.
After the hosts took a quick free kick, Jimmy Medranda received a long ball outside the box before sending a pass to an onrushing Morris. He chipped the ball over goalkeeper William Yarbrough for a 1-1 deadlock and his 41st regular season goal.
Morris leads all Sounders players with six MLS goals this season and has contributed nine across all competitions.
MR. CLEAN SHEET
New York City FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson just keeps racking up the shutouts. He recorded his league-leading 11th clean sheet of the season in the 2-0 home win over Inter Miami on Saturday.
The 33-year-old netminder made four saves to set a new career high for shutouts after previously posting 10 for NYCFC during the 2018 campaign.
CAREER HIGH
Eryk Williamson reached a new personal best in a season by recording his sixth assist in the Portland Timbers' 2-1 comeback win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.
In the 53rd minute, Williamson laid the ball off for Diego Chara, who made a run toward the top of the penalty area. Chara drilled a shot that took a deflection off the leg of Jaroslaw Niezgoda and bounced into the back of the net as the Timbers pulled level at 1-1.
The victory extended Portland's unbeaten streak to seven games (4-0-3).
