U.S. Olympic Men's Soccer Team Set to Face Iraq and Morocco in Spain During November International Window

CHICAGO (Nov. 7, 2023) – As the U.S. Olympic Men’s Soccer Team prepares to return to the Olympics for the first time since 2008, the USA will face Iraq on Saturday, Nov. 18 and Morocco on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at Pinatar Arena in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain.

The Olympic Men’s Soccer Team serves as an important part of U.S. Soccer’s mission to Develop Winning Teams as it will provide some of the nation’s top young talents the opportunity to face elite opposition on the world stage next summer.

SCHEDULE

Saturday, Nov. 18 – USA vs. Iraq – 11 a.m. ET / 5 p.m. local
Tuesday, Nov. 21 – USA vs. Morocco – 9 a.m. ET / 3 p.m. local

The Olympic Team returned to action during the October international window, topping Mexico 2-1 and Japan 4-1 in Phoenix, Ariz., to kick off its preparations for Paris. Eleven different players contributed goals or assists during the two cycle-opening matches.

The U.S. qualified for its first Olympic Men’s Football Tournament in 16 years with a dominant performance at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship. There, the U.S. topped host Honduras 3-0 before a raucous crowd in San Pedro Sula to secure its Olympic berth.

Iraq is preparing for next spring’s 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup, where the Lions of Babylon are seeking one of three Asian berths to the Olympics. They qualified to the confederation championship as winners of qualifying Group F ahead of Kuwait, Timor-Leste and Macau. Iraq last qualified for the Olympic in 2016 and finished fourth at Athens 2004.

Morocco qualified for the Olympics as champion at this summer’s 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The Atlas Lions had a dramatic run to the confederation title, topping Mali in penalties to clinch its Olympic berth and defeating Egypt in added extra time to lift the trophy. One of three African teams qualified to Paris 2024, Morocco last qualified to the Olympics in 2012.
