Weston McKennie and Tim Weah celebrate on the field for Juventus

Among the headline-grabbing highlights for the U.S. Men’s National Team pool last week were Tim Weah and Weston McKennie, who proved to be an impressive one-two punch for Juventus.

Elsewhere in Europe, Haji Wright celebrated a goal for the third successive match for Coventry City.

Meanwhile the Aaronson brothers, Brenden and Paxten, found the net for their respective teams, Leeds United and Utrecht, some 24 hours part, and defender Cameron Carter-Vickers' first goal of the year ignited Celtic to a big win in the Scottish League Cup semifinals.

TEAMING UP

Not only did Tim Weah and Weston McKennie start together for Juventus for the first time this season, but they also scored goals in the same game. That was in a 2-2 draw with Parma in Italy Serie A action on Wednesday, Oct. 30. After falling behind 1-0, the American duo combined for a 31st-minute equalizer as McKennie headed home Weah's corner kick for his first goal of the campaign. The Bianconeri was on the short end of a 2-1 deficit before Weah flicked in Chico Conceicao's cross in the 49th minute. Weah, who tallied for the second successive contest, scored his third goal of the season. Fifth-place Juve (21 points) remained unbeaten at 5-0-6.

THREE IN A ROW

Forward Haji Wright struck for the third consecutive match in Coventry City's 3-0 away triumph over 10-man Middlesbrough on Saturday, Nov. 2. He tapped in substitute Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s cross in the 76th minute to give the visitors an insurance goal in the English Championship encounter. Six minutes later, Wright sent a lead pass to Joshua Eccles, who scored in the 81st minute to seal the win. Wright has found the net six times in nine starts over 13 appearances for 13th-place Coventry (4-6-3, 15). He started his streak in a 1-1 tie at Queens Park Rangers on Oct. 22 and continued it in a 2-1 victory over Luton Town on Oct. 26.

OH, BROTHERS!

The Aaronson brothers, Brenden and Paxten, pulled off a USMNT rarity, scoring 24 hours apart in wins in separate leagues.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, older brother Brenden, 24, capped off a three-goal burst in an eight-minute span in Leeds United's 3-0 home win over Plymouth Argyle. Joël Piroe, who had tallied only three minutes prior tried a back heel shot in the box that was blocked. An alert Aaronson smashed home his fourth goal of the season from the right side, into the bottom corner. Leeds (7-1-5, 26) is in second place in the English Championship, trailing Sunderland (9-2-2, 29) by three points.

It was the 21-year-old Paxten's turn to shine on Sunday, Nov. 3 as he also scored the third goal for his team, in Utrecht's 4-1 victory at Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie. The younger Aaronson boosted his side into a 3-0 lead with his third goal of the season in the 88th minute. Utrecht (8-1-1, 25) is in third place.

KICK STARTER

Defender Cameron Carter-Vickers sparked Celtic to a 6-0 thumping of Aberdeen, scoring the first goal of the Scottish League Cup semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 2. Carter-Vickers recorded his first goal of the year across all competitions, heading home Arne Engels’ corner kick in the 29th minute.

REYNOLDS WRAPS IT UP

Bryan Reynolds' first goal of the year turned into the game-winner for Westerlo in its 2-1 home triumph over RWDM in the Belgian Cup on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Reynolds gave the hosts a two-goal lead in the 56th minute as he ran unto a perfectly weighted through ball by Serhii Sydorchuk and rounded goalkeeper Guillaume Hubert on the left side of the area before depositing it into an empty net.

A HELPER

Alejandro Zendejas registered an assist in Club America's 5-0 win over host Mazatlán in Liga MX action on Friday, Nov. 1. He set up Brian Rodriguez in the 35th minute. Club America (7-5-3, 24) is in eighth place.

UPSET CITY

While he did not score a goal or register an assist, midfielder Tyler Adams helped ninth-place AFC Bournemouth (4-3-3, 15) pull off an English Premier League upset on Saturday, Nov. 2. He played the final 24 minutes to help the hosts record a 2-1 victory over previous EPL leaders Manchester City. Combined with Liverpool's (8-1-1, 25) 2-1 win over Brighton, City (7-1-2, 23) dropped down to second place.

New York Red Bulls defender John Tolkin and Seattle Sounders Jordan Morris will have an opportunity to play in their respective conference semifinals of the MLS Cup Playoffs. Tolkin played 90 minutes for the Red Bulls, who eliminated the defending champion Columbus Crew, 5-4, in a shootout after playing to a 2-2 home draw in the Game Two of the Eastern Conference first round on Sunday, Nov. 3.
