SAN PEDRO DEL PINATAR, Spain (Nov. 29, 2025) – The U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team rolled past England, 4-1, as forwards Mary Long and Alex Pfeiffer, who are teammates on the Kansas City Current in the National Women’s Soccer League, both bagged braces.

The USA is preparing for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which will be held next year from Sept. 5-27 in Poland. The USA is one of 12 nations to have already qualified for the tournament, doing so at the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship last June. The tournament will feature 24 countries.

A U.S. starting lineup made up mostly of professional players raced out to a 2-0 halftime lead as Long scored in the 25thand 44th minutes. Pfeiffer started her brace in the 80th and even though England pulled a goal back four minutes into second half stoppage time, the 18-year-old St. Louis product restored the three-goal lead in the eighth minute of stoppage time with her second of the match.

Long’s first goal came off a header and her second came when she picked off a pass from the England goalkeeper. Pfeiffer’s first goal came after the U.S. won the ball in England’s half and forward Izzy Engle played to midfielder Sofia Cedeno who found Pfeiffer a few yards inside the 18-yard box. She finished with her right foot on the ground just inside the left post.

The fourth and final goal came when Pfeiffer’s first shot was saved by the goalkeeper. She latched onto the rebound, beat her defender again and finished from inside the six-yard box.

The goals were the fourth and fifth for Long at the U-20 level and the first for Pfeiffer, who scored nine goals in seven caps at the U-17 level, but missed the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a knee injury.

The USA will finish the trip against the China PR U-20 WNT on Dec. 2 at Pinatar Arena.

This camp is the second for new U.S. U-20 WNT head coach Vicky Jepson, but the matches are her first international games at the helm.

The age cut-off for the 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup is players born on or after Jan. 1, 2006. This roster is made up of eight players born in 2006 and 12 born in 2007. The roster features six NWSL players, one NWSL player out on loan, three players from the USL Super League, seven college players, one player who is currently unattached and two youth club players.
