The Second Round of the U.S. Open Cup delivered plenty of action across 16 matches, from long-range bangers to clutch double saves. Now, it’s your chance to vote for your favorite goals and saves from the Second Round. Voting runs through Thursday, April 9 at 8:30 p.m. ET, and the winners will be announced on Friday, April 10.
Alex Dalou (Flint City Bucks vs. Detroit City FC) - The West Bloomfield, Mich. native netted his second Open Cup goal in as many matches for Le Rouge, rifling in a shot from range to confirm Detroit’s 1-0 road victory over the Flint City Bucks.
Alex Méndez (New Mexico United vs. El Paso Locomotive FC) - The former U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year tallied his third goal in four matches across all competitions, sending in a knuckleball of a shot from distance to double El Paso’s lead against Derby Del Camino Real rival New Mexico.
Viggo Ortiz (Charlotte Independence vs. Charleston Battery) - The 17-year-old former Charleston midfielder made his former team pay, slicing through the Battery defense and bagging the winner in the 118th minute against Charlotte’s Southern Derby foe.
Ousmane Sylla (Orange County SC vs. Phoenix Rising FC) - The 24-year-old scored his first goal of the season, cutting through the entire Phoenix backline to score a late equalizer that forced extra time.
Jonathan Burke (Asheville City SC vs. One Knoxville SC) - In his second start for Knoxville, the 28-year-old made 11 saves, including a tough stop with an outstretched hand before diving to deny a second Asheville opportunity in front of goal.
François Djiba (Chattanooga FC vs. Tennessee Tempo FC) - The 25-year-old Senegalese shot-stopper made an incredible double save to deny Chattanooga two point-blank opportunities at Finley Stadium.
Dane Jacomen (San Antonio FC vs. FC Tulsa) - The first-year Scissortail tallied his first Tulsa clean sheet, reacting quickly to push away a dangerous San Antonio effort late.
Patrick Rakovsky (Orange County SC vs. Phoenix Rising FC) - The two-time USL Championship title-winner helped eliminate his former club from the Open Cup, standing tall to parry away a powerful effort as time expired.
