CHICAGO (Oct. 4, 2023) – U.S. Women’s Beach Soccer National Team head coach Morgan Church has selected her final 12-player roster that will face England, Portugal and Spain at the 2023 Women’s Mundialito Beach Soccer Tournament to be played from Oct. 13-15 at Isla Canela Beach in Ayamonte, Spain. As U.S. Soccer continues to encourage and enable the game in all of its forms, the fourth-ranked USBWNT’s matches against three of the top seven sides in the world will set a new high mark for matches in a calendar year since the team first began play in 2019.
“Our players and staff are very excited to compete in the Mundialito Tournament,” said U.S. Women’s Beach Soccer National Team head coach Morgan Church. “This tournament brings together some of the best teams in the world and it should be one of the most competitive events we have played in yet. This group continues to grow with every camp and competition, and the Mundialito will be another great opportunity as we continue toward our goal to be the best in the world. Beyond that, as we push for a FIFA Women’s Beach Soccer World Cup, tournaments like this will help grow the excitement and interest around the game.”
Among the highlights of the team’s Mundialito Tournament roster are a core group of eight players that will take part in all five of the Beach WNT’s camps this year. The group has helped the USA win the 2023 Acapulco Beach Soccer Tournament this past April in Mexico as well as earn a 5-1-0 mark in 2023 – already a team record for wins in a calendar year.
Headlining the roster is Kilee Quigley, whose 14 goals in 17 matches stand as the most in Beach WNT history, as well as defender Jeane Sunseri-Warp, who is the only player to appear in each of the team’s 21 matches since 2019. They are joined by two-time Women’s Beach Soccer Player of the year Ali Hall, whose 10 career goals place her third on the team’s all-time scoring list, and forward Hannah Adler, whose eight goals this year tie her with Quigley as the team’s joint-scoring leaders in 2023.
Two veteran players who missed out on the Acapulco triumph will also return to competitive action. With 13 career appearances, Melissa Lowder is the Beach WNT’s all-time cap leader among goalkeepers, while Lauren Leslie’s 12 goals place her second on the team’s all-time scoring list.
Nikki Haimes, who took part in the team’s domestic training camps in February and July, is the lone uncapped player on the roster and is expected to make her international debut during the tournament.

Earning its first invite to the prestigious Mundialito Beach Soccer Tournament, the U.S. Women’s Beach National Team will get to challenge itself against three of the top seven sides in the world as they go for their second title of 2023 in a round-robin group format from Oct. 13-15 at Isla Canela Beach in Ayamonte.
The opening match of the competition on Friday, Oct. 13 will see the first-ever meeting between the No. 4-ranked USA and No. 7-ranked Portugal in women’s beach soccer. Matchday Two will see the USA face No. 1 ranked Spain in a rematch of the 4-2 loss that came in the Intercontinental Cup on Aug. 15, 2021 in Moscow, Russia.
The U.S. then closes out the tournament on Sunday, Oct. 15 with its second international match against No. 2-ranked England. The USBWNT defeated the Lionesses 7-2 at the Acapulco Cup earlier this year, with Hannah Adler and Ali Hall each recording braces in the victory on April 14 in Acapulco, Mexico.

The U.S. Women’s Beach Soccer National Team is 5-1-0 in six total matches during the 2023 campaign, with the five wins already setting a team record for most victories during a calendar year since the program began in 2019.
