BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Oct. 18, 2026) – The U.S. Power Soccer National Team continued play in the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair World Cup with a 0-0 draw against Denmark in its first game of Matchday Two, followed by an authoritative 2-0 victory over Belgium.
The early results put the U.S. in third place in the round-robin portion of the competition, with difficult games remaining against France, England and host Argentina. The top four teams in the 10-team tournament advance to the semifinals on Thursday, Oct. 22.
The match against Denmark was a goal-less affair that earned a place in the U.S. record books as the first scoreless draw in team history. In three previous matches against the Danes, the U.S. had never lost. Despite a shot advantage of 6-2, including 5-0 in shots on goal, the U.S. could not find the net on Sunday.
However, the U.S. was on target early in the afternoon match against Belgium, starting with combination passing from goalkeeper Zach Dickey and his brother Jordan Dickey on the left wing. Zach Dickey took a shot from the top of the box that was saved by the Belgian goalkeeper Ilhan Genç. Lexi Heer pounced on the rebound and quickly redirected the ball over the line with one skillful touch from her chair. The goal was Heer’s 15th international strike for the U.S. and her seventh overall in World Cup play.
Jordan Dickey had a chance to double the lead just before the 20-minute mark. He attempted to redirect a pass across the box, but his shot was stopped by Genç.
The U.S. did eventually earn a two-goal cushion when second half-substitute David Dowling came in to the match and made an immediate impact. Dowling earned a U.S. corner kick that he placed dangerously inside the box, forcing Genç into a difficult position which resulted in him backing the ball into his own net.
Through three games, the U.S. has not conceded a single goal and neither Denmark nor Belgium placed a shot on target.
Next up for the U.S. is a pair of critical games on Monday, October 19 from the Olympic Park venue in Buenos Aires. The U.S. begins the day at 11:30 a.m. local (10:30 a.m. ET) against Italy, which is currently undefeated and tied for first with England. The Americans will return to the court at 2:30 p.m. local (1:30 p.m. ET) to battle two-time defending champion France. Both games can be streamed live on the official FIPFA YouTube page, along with all the tournament action.
