Bio

David Wright serves as Chief Commercial Officer where he oversees all outward facing business units including marketing, corporate partnerships, media / content, consumer products, events, development, and analytics. David is charged with driving overall sport / property relevancy, fan engagement and revenue for the National Governing Body. Since joining USSF in 2020, the Federation has made several strategic moves including retaining its commercial rights beginning in 2023, securing a long-term extension with Nike (the largest partnership in Federation history and among one of Nike’s largest global investments) and finalizing along-term partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and NBCU Telemundo.

Prior to joining USSF, David was Minor League Baseball's Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer. In support of MiLB's vision to be a dynamic leader in sport and entertainment, David was tasked with leading all marketing and commercial business units, including strategy & research, brand development, communications, media, business development and partnership marketing. In addition, David oversaw the MiLB Enterprises initiative, designed to maximize enterprise value through integrated national and regional partnerships by leveraging the power and overall scale of the 160 member clubs. During David’s tenure at MiLB, national enterprise revenue grew by 120%+ and the property was recognized by SBJ as a Sport Breakthrough of the Year finalist.

David joined Minor League Baseball in 2016 following a 15-year run at Major League Soccer (MLS) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM), most recently as its Senior Vice President, Global Sponsorship. He oversaw new business efforts for the premier soccer properties in North America (including Major League Soccer, U.S. Soccer Federation and the Mexican National Team). David also managed a Partnership Marketing team tasked with day-to-day management, growth and retention of more than 40 MLS/SUM partners. Prior to leading global sponsorship efforts for MLS/SUM, David was Director of Fan Development, managing a department dedicated to connecting Major League Soccer to participants and key influencers within America's soccer community.

A SportsBusiness Journal 40 Under 40 Award recipient, David earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from Indiana University. While at IU, David was a key member of the Indiana University soccer team, winning four Big Ten Championships and competing in two NCAA College Cups (Final Fours). In addition, David received a Master of Science in sports management from the University of Massachusetts. David resides in metro Atlanta with his wife, Jaren.
