Bio
Shari Summers is the Chief Soccer Growth Officer for the U.S. Soccer Federation. In her role she focuses on growing participation in soccer across the U.S. and fostering high-quality, safe, and fun environments for play and development.
Shari formerly served as the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Operations at WAVE Sports & Entertainment (WSE), a sports media company. She also worked in strategy consulting at Bain & Company.
Shari has extensive experience working on strategic and operational projects across a diverse set of industries, with specialties including strategic planning, operating model design and implementation, and go-to-market and growth strategy. Through her various roles, she has worked closely with cross-functional leaders and teams to develop and implement strategies across organizations.
Shari spent a year playing professional soccer for FK Fortuna in Norway where she started at midfielder. She started all four years at central midfielder at Stanford University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and co-captained the squad her senior year. At Stanford, she finished her playing career with 12 goals and earned an All-Pac-10 First Team selection. She additionally earned an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. As a teen, she attended U.S. Soccer’s U-16 and U-17 National Team camps.
A California native, Shari is based in U.S. Soccer’s Atlanta office.
